Ahead of this weekend’s National Eisteddfod and the National Finals in September, Ammanford Town Silver Band is pleased to announce the following changes to our line up. We have welcomed new faces to the band and also a returning member, Hedd-Wyn Jones who returns from University and back to the band in one of the 3rd Cornet seats.

We are delighted to welcome Alex Salter to the band signing as Second Euphonium. Alex joins us from Penclawdd Brass Band and brings with him a wealth of experience.

We have also seen a shake up within the Trombone section as Matthew Berryman moves across to Eb Bass. Again we are delighted to welcome Philip Gethin joining from Ystradgynlais Band on Solo Trombone. As a band we are acutely aware of the need to invest in the youth of the town and our latest appointment sees the promotion of Rhydian Tiddy from our Junior Band to Bass Trombone.

Rhydian is not the only member of the Junior Band to take the step up to the Senior Band. He is joined by Carys Watkins on 3rd Cornet. “It is great for us to reap the rewards of an excellent youth setup” says MD Glyn Davies. “As a band we give the opportunity of free tuition to all youngsters wishing to learn a brass instrument and as the MD, it is great for me to look at the Junior band as the future of Ammanford Band”

The National Eisteddfod will mark a sad moment in the band as we bid a fond farewell to Dyfrig Rees. Dyfrig has been a loyal member of the band for a number of years, however due to work relocation he has to leave us (hopefully as a sabbatical rather than retirement!). Due to this we are again pleased to announce that Millie Savage will move from 2nd Cornet to 2nd Baritone, continuing her grades and excellent progression.
