Ammanford Town Silver Band were drawn early in the running order, with Contest Secretary Anwen Berryman, pulling draw number 4 in the  Third Section National Finals 2014. Taking the stage the band played for the Adjudicators Mike Kilroy and John Winterflood who were tasked with the job of ranking the 18 bands competing.

Taken from our friends at 4barsrest.com, here is the write up:

It’s a confident start with an engaging band sound that’s nicely styled and balanced. Well done to Jamie Reynolds & Teifion Davies (sop/cornet respectively) for the musical input. The approach from the middle is very confident and positive—the band is responding well, there are some suspect moments, but there is total commitment within the ranks. Once again, the style is nicely done and the ensemble sound catches the ear—it sits well and there is confidence as they close.

Overall:
The Welsh deliver a rendition that wasn’t lacking in passion or desire

Star Player:
Teifion Davies, the pick of the bunch today

All in all, the band loved the experience of competing at the highest level once again this year and look forward to making it a hat-trick of appearances next year! Many congratulations to Ebbw Valley who took first place - flying the flag for Welsh Bands.
